All together.
All the way here.
A whole car
full of stories.
We spent quite a while planning this session. The family had rented a beautiful villa in Praiano, were still getting to know the area, and had a lot to organise. I waited for them at a car park in Positano, where an enormous car arrived and out came the whole family.
To my delight, they were wonderfully prepared for the photographs. They do this every year, in a different place. They knew how to pose, enjoyed being together, and made my part of the morning very easy.
A whole car full of stories.
One hour
became two.
Getting everyone ready and over to Positano meant we missed golden hour. By the time we reached my favourite spots, other people were beginning to arrive. But it was still early, with lovely light and plenty of room to work.
The hour we had planned became two wonderful hours together. We had sunshine, the town behind us, and a family who were comfortable enough with one another to make every combination of people feel natural.
One hour became two.
A place
on the wall.
After the session, we spent time on the finishing touches. The family had particular wishes for the photographs, and I was happy to work through the details. There was plenty of retouching, but it mattered to me that the people and the feeling of the morning still looked like themselves.
I hope these find a place in their family album. Perhaps one will be printed large, framed, and hung above a fireplace. I like imagining it bringing them back to Positano for a moment, long after the trip is over.
A place on the wall.
A place. A feeling.
A story that’s yours.
Tell me a little about yourself.
I’ll take care of the light, the places, and the quiet moments in between.
