I've created my personal beach guide that I decided to share with you. This is exclusively my private opinion, and I hope it will give you a general picture of the Amalfi Coast beaches and help you choose a place where you can comfortably arrange your vacation.

When to go to the Amalfi Coast

The resort season here begins with Catholic Easter (usually in April) and lasts until the first weeks of November. Before the season starts, beaches are thoroughly prepared: special machines are brought in to clean the area and add additional sand. The most comfortable water temperature is from June to September, when the sea warms up to +80°F and higher.

Beach Features

Most beaches here are pebbly, which makes them quite hard, but in large cities they are well-equipped. Typically, beach service includes rental of two sun loungers and an umbrella for the whole day. During peak season (July-August), on popular beaches such as Amalfi and Positano, it’s better to book sun loungers in advance.

Beaches of the Amalfi Coast

1

Vietri Sul Mare

The widest and most accessible beach on the coast, with a large parking lot and developed infrastructure. There are many restaurants here, prices are more democratic, and the beach is clean thanks to regular cleaning. A great place for those who want to avoid the depths of the coast.
2

Erchie

Erchie is a tiny fishing village with a population of about 83 people. It is located in a secluded valley that opens to the beach and a picturesque bay. Many exclusive beaches and coves where you can swim and sunbathe are hidden along the coast and accessible only by boat, providing privacy and tranquility.
3

Maiori

Maiori boasts the longest beach on the Amalfi Coast, making it ideal for family vacations. It's easy to find budget vacation options here, but there are also elite areas with high prices. Some beach owners deliberately inflate the cost of sun loungers to limit attendance.
4

Minori

Similar to Maiori, but several times smaller. It's comfortable, cozy, but during high season there are too many people.
5

Castiglione

The official beach of Ravello. A cozy place located between cliffs, with the only drawback — a 120-step staircase from the road. Parking only for motorcycles. From here, it's easy to get to the neighboring town of Atrani even by swimming.
6

Atrani

Divided by a river into two parts. The water is clean here, there are bars and a relatively small flow of tourists, although in July-August the beach fills up completely.
7

Amalfi

The central beach, the most crowded due to its proximity to the cruise ship pier. Prices here range from budget to premium class. Nearby there are private beaches from hotels, and behind the port – wild areas with cliffs from where you can jump into the water.
8

Conca dei Marini

Conca dei Marini is known for its Emerald Cave (Grotta dello Smeraldo), a sea cavern with crystal clear water that is illuminated by an emerald light. The beach here is small and cozy, surrounded by rocks and greenery.
9

Furore (Fiordo di Furore)

One of the most picturesque beaches in the region. There is no parking here, and cars have to be left along the road with the risk of a fine. Worth visiting for the impressive views.
10

Praiano

Praiano offers some of the best sunset views on the entire coast. Its beaches, such as Marina di Praia, are surrounded by cliffs and offer seclusion. It is also home to one of the few beaches with music and a disco right by the water, creating a unique atmosphere for relaxation.
11

Positano

Positano is one of the most photographed towns on the Amalfi Coast. Here are the most expensive beaches on the coast, and you pay not only for comfort but also for the prestige of the town itself. Additionally, here is the famous night disco Music on the Rocks, as well as many excellent but somewhat expensive cocktail bars.

Free access to water

Every beach has free zones where you can simply leave your things on the shore and take a swim. However, for a comfortable rest, it’s better to rent a sun lounger and umbrella.

Boat Rentals

In Amalfi, you can take a boat without a license and explore the coast yourself, for example, sail to the Galli Islands that once belonged to Rudolf Nureyev. You can also reach many caves, grottoes, and secluded places where there are practically no people. It’s important to know that you don’t need a license for a motorboat on the Amalfi Coast, and almost anyone can operate it. The only restriction is that you can’t get too close to the shore. Each boat has enough fuel to sail to Capri and back, as well as an anchor that allows you to “park” in the most picturesque places and enjoy nature.

Beach Restaurants

Some restaurants are accessible only from the water, which makes visiting even more special. You dine, swim, and enjoy the seclusion.

Summary

The Amalfi Coast is not only beautiful views but also a convenient infrastructure created for a comfortable vacation. Everyone will find something to their taste here: secluded beaches for those seeking tranquility, or lively resort areas with bars, discos, and active entertainment for fans of dynamic recreation.
