Parking Amalfi Coast 2026
The only guide you need. Official prices, garage locations, ZTL zones, and practical strategies for every town on the coast.
Parking here is genuinely hard
The Amalfi Coast remains one of the most challenging places to park in all of Italy. Towns are built vertically into cliffs with almost no flat ground for cars. In peak season (April-October), average rates run 5-8/hour, and after 10 AM finding any spot in Positano or Amalfi is nearly impossible.
This guide compiles official municipal rates, verified private garage prices, and tested strategies to help you save money and avoid fines. We update it every season.

RemoteZTL: Limited Traffic Zones
Limited Traffic Zones (Zona a Traffico Limitato) operate in the historic centers of Amalfi, Positano, Ravello, and Atrani. They are monitored by cameras that automatically check your plates.
Fine: from 150 and up
Violations are punished with a fine starting from 150 euros plus towing expenses if necessary.
Good to know: Even if you've already left the hotel, your accommodation can usually register your plate retroactively. Guest registration documents are typically collected by the commune within 1-2 months.
Smart parking strategies
Park & Ride Strategy
Leave your car in a cheaper, high-capacity location (Salerno, Vietri sul Mare, or Sorrento) and travel along the coast by ferry or SITA bus. In peak season, the problem is often not price but availability.
Arrive Early Before 9 AM
After 10:00 in summer, even paid garages in Positano and Amalfi are full. Early arrival is the single most effective trick for securing a spot.
Use EasyPark App Remotely
Pay and extend parking time remotely in blue zones across Italy. No need to run back to the meter. Works in most Amalfi Coast towns.
Book Hotels with Parking Included
Many hotels and B&Bs offer parking (sometimes free, sometimes 15-25/day). This alone can save 25-50/day compared to public garages in popular towns.

Important warnings
Never park on the shoulder of SS163 (the coastal highway). Mass towing operations happen regularly. Fine + towing = 150-250+.
White lines = residents only. Yellow lines = local services only. Parking there guarantees a fine. Always look for "Solo Residenti" signs.
Almost no gas stations on the coast. Fill up in Salerno or before entering the coastal road.
Many parking meters and small lots are cash-only. Keep small bills and coins handy.
Alternatives to driving
Honestly, the best parking strategy on the Amalfi Coast is to not need parking at all. Here are your options:
TravelMar Ferries
Connect Salerno, Cetara, Maiori, Minori, Amalfi, and Positano. Running April through October. From 5 per ride.
