Heads up if you're planning to get around the Amalfi Coast tomorrow. Sita Sud, the bus company running most routes along the coast, has announced that services may be disrupted on Friday, March 6 due to a regional transport strike.
What's Happening
Five major transport unions (Filt-Cgil, Fit-Cisl, Uiltrasporti, Ugl-Autoferro, and Faisa-Cisal) have called a four-hour strike from 8:30 to 12:30. During that window, buses may run late or not at all.
Early Buses Will Run
Good news for early risers: under Italian law (Legge 146/90), all buses departing between 6:00 and 9:00 are guaranteed to run as scheduled. So if you need to catch a morning bus, try to travel before 9:00.
After 12:30
Services should return to normal after 12:30, though some delays could spill over into the early afternoon.
Keep in Mind
Since striking is an individual right, the actual impact depends on how many drivers participate. Some routes may run fine while others get cancelled. There's no way to know in advance which ones.
What to Do
If you're traveling between Amalfi, Positano, Ravello, or Salerno tomorrow morning, have a backup plan. Consider:
- Traveling early (before 9:00) when buses are guaranteed
- Waiting until afternoon when services resume
- Booking a private transfer or taxi if your schedule is tight
The strike affects land transport only. Ferries operate on a separate schedule.
