🚌 Sita Sud Emergency Bus Schedules: How to Get Between Amalfi and Salerno Right Now
If you're planning to travel between Amalfi and Salerno in the coming days, heads up — things have changed. A landslide at Fuenti (near Cetara) has completely closed the famous SS163 coastal road at km 47+300, in both directions. No cars, no buses, no getting through.
But don't panic! Sita Sud has activated an emergency bus plan, and we've got all the details you need to keep moving along the coast.
The Detour: Via Tramonti
Instead of the usual coastal route, buses between Amalfi and Salerno are now rerouted through the mountains via Tramonti (Campinola). It's a longer ride — think winding mountain roads with some genuinely stunning views over the coast — but it works.
Extra stops have been added along this route at:
- Maiori — Santa Maria delle Grazie
- Tramonti — Bivio Polvica and Valico di Chiunzi
- Corbara — Piazza Diaz

💡 Practical Tips for Travelers
Arrive early. These emergency schedules mean fewer buses than usual, and they can fill up fast — especially the morning departures. Give yourself a buffer.
The mountain route takes longer. Budget extra time for the Amalfi–Salerno journey via Tramonti. The coastal route normally takes about 75 minutes; through the mountains, expect closer to 90–100 minutes depending on traffic.
Keep an eye on updates. Road closures on the Amalfi Coast can change fast. Follow Sita Sud for the latest schedule changes, and check back here — we'll update this post if anything shifts.
Ferries are your friend. If the bus schedule doesn't work for you, remember that ferry services between Amalfi, Salerno, and other coastal towns often run during the winter months (weather permitting). Check TravelMar and NLG for current timetables.
Enjoy the detour. Seriously — the road through Tramonti is beautiful. Rolling vineyards, tiny hamlets clinging to hillsides, and if you're lucky, a glimpse of the coast from above that most tourists never see. Not the worst consolation prize. 🍋
