There is a nice little summer upgrade for anyone staying around Amalfi or Positano and wanting to see more of Campania without sitting in road traffic.
From Saturday, June 13, 2026, Alicost brings back the Metro del Mare routes connecting Salerno, the Cilento Coast and the Amalfi Coast. The useful part for visitors is simple: on weekdays, you can travel by sea between Salerno, Agropoli, San Marco di Castellabate, Amalfi and Positano.
That means the Cilento is suddenly much easier to reach from the Amalfi Coast. It also gives travelers based in Agropoli or Castellabate a direct boat route to Amalfi and Positano, which is much better than a long day on the road.
The two summer routes
The service has two lines.
Line A1 runs from June 15 to September 4, 2026, Monday to Friday. It connects Salerno Molo Manfredi, Agropoli, San Marco di Castellabate, Amalfi and Positano.
Line A2 runs from June 13 to September 6, 2026, Saturday and Sunday. It connects Salerno Molo Manfredi, Agropoli, San Marco di Castellabate and Acciaroli.
Tickets cost from EUR6 to EUR13.50, depending on the route.

Why this is useful
For Amalfi Coast visitors, the big change is the weekday link with the Cilento. You can leave Amalfi at 17:23 or Positano at 17:07 and reach Agropoli in the evening. In the other direction, travelers can leave Agropoli at 08:55 and arrive in Amalfi at 10:39 or Positano at 10:54.
It is also a smart option for people staying in Salerno. Instead of choosing only the usual Amalfi or Capri day, you can take the weekend boat south to Acciaroli, or use the weekday route toward the Amalfi Coast through Agropoli and San Marco.
And honestly, the boat is part of the pleasure. The road between the Amalfi Coast and Cilento can be slow in summer. From the sea, the same trip feels lighter: cliffs, harbors, blue water, and no parking hunt at the end.
A few practical notes
Buy tickets through alicost.it or directly from Alicost channels. The PDF also lists booking@alicost.com, +39 089 87 14 83, and WhatsApp +39 327 18 72 703.
Check the schedule again before you travel. Summer sea routes can change because of weather, port conditions or operational updates.
If you are planning a same-day return, read the direction carefully. Line A1 reaches Amalfi and Positano on weekday mornings, then returns toward Cilento and Salerno in the late afternoon. Line A2 is a weekend Cilento route and does not stop in Amalfi or Positano.
For anyone trying to move around without a car, this is a genuinely useful addition to the summer map. It will not solve every transport problem on the coast, but it gives travelers one more clean, scenic way to move between places that usually feel much farther apart.
