The Amalfi Coast has a new transport option starting April 11th. It's a color-coded bus system that works like a subway map — designed to simplify travel between towns and cut down on traffic.
Amalfi sits at the center, with routes fanning out to Positano, Ravello, Maiori, and Agerola. Each line has its own letter and color:
- Line A/B (red): Amalfi ↔ Positano
- Line C/D (blue): Maiori ↔ Amalfi
- Line E/F (yellow): Amalfi ↔ Ravello
- Line G/I (green): Agerola ↔ Amalfi
The goal is straightforward: give tourists a clear, easy-to-understand system. No confusion about which bus goes where.
How it works
Buses run regularly throughout the day, stopping at places like Conca dei Marini, Furore, and Praiano. The Amalfi-Positano route has buses leaving in the morning, early afternoon, and late afternoon.
Every ticket comes with a guaranteed seat. Tickets cost between €5 and €10 per trip — more than the standard bus, but you get comfort and certainty. No standing in packed buses during busy times.
Why this matters
The SS163 road along the Amalfi Coast gets crowded. This new system tries to reduce the number of cars, making towns better for locals and visitors alike.
It's launching right as tourist season begins. If people use it, it could transform how visitors get around — less worry about parking, more time taking in the scenery.
What's next
The service focuses on sustainability and organization. It's about keeping the character of these towns intact while making them easier to reach.
Summer is almost here, and this could be a big shift in coastal transport. Whether it succeeds depends on how many people give it a try.
