Good news if you've been waiting for ferry season to start. Alicost kicks off spring service tomorrow, March 21st, with daily routes between Salerno, the Amalfi Coast, and Capri. Weekend ferries to Ischia and Procida are also running again.
Here's what's new: direct Salerno-Capri runs. Three departures daily from Salerno (11:00, 12:00, and 16:10), with returns at 14:05 and 18:15. No stops, straight shot across.
This cuts down the usual transfer hassle. If you're arriving at Salerno's train station or the new airport, you can now get to Capri without bouncing through the Coast first.
Weekend Routes and More
Weekends bring back the Ischia and Procida connections from Salerno. There's also a new Naples-Positano line running Saturdays and Sundays.
Starting April 1st, Alicost adds their multi-stop tour tickets. These let you hit two or more destinations in one day, which is popular with tour groups and anyone trying to pack in Capri and Positano on a tight schedule.
Come June, the Metrò del Mare network starts up. Weekdays you'll have ferries between Salerno and the Cilento coast (Agropoli, San Marco di Castellabate, Acciaroli), with connections to Amalfi and Positano. Weekend schedule is the same as above.
Why Ferries Matter Here
Gennaro Esposito from Alicost's board mentioned two goals: better service, less road traffic. Anyone who's driven the Coast in summer knows the backup at every hairpin turn. Ferries take pressure off those roads and cut emissions.
Salerno's positioning itself as a transport hub. Ferries connect with trains and flights at the new airport. For visitors, that means you can fly in, hop a ferry, and skip the rental car entirely.
Practical details:
- Season starts: March 21, 2026
- Salerno-Capri direct: €25-30 one-way (check current pricing)

If you're planning a Capri day trip from Salerno, this is now the easiest route. And if you're staying on the Coast but want to island-hop, weekends just got more flexible.
